Roullete, or the little wheel, is a popular casino game which has been around for over a century. The game consists of a table with a croupier who throws a ball into a spinning wheel, and the player’s bets are placed on the results.
The wheel consists of a solid wooden disk, slightly convex in shape, with metal partitions called separators or frets around its rim. Each of these partitions carries the corresponding number from 1 to 36. In American-style roulette wheels, the numbers are black and red; in European-style roulette wheels, the number zero is painted green.
In both types of games, players can place a variety of bets on either the numbers or various groupings of numbers, including odd or even, red or black, high (19-36) or low (1-18), or a combination of these choices. The payoffs vary, based on the probability of a particular type of bet occurring.
Inside Bets:
A bet on one or more specific pockets on the table is known as an “inside” bet. Similarly, a bet on a range of pockets based on their position is called an “outside” bet.
Street Bet:
A street bet is a bet that involves placing one chip on a row of three consecutive numbers. The payout is 5-1 for this type of bet.
Split Bet:
A split bet is a bet that involves straddling the line between two adjacent numbers on the layout. The payout for this bet is 17-1.
Line Bet:
A line bet is a bet that involves crossing a horizontal line between two rows of numbers. The payout for this bet is 11-1.
Six Number Bet:
A six number bet is a bet that involves making a bet on three of the six rows on the table map. The payout for this bet is 5-1.
Dozens Bet:
A dozen bet is a bet that involves betting on the first 12 numbers on the layout, the second dozen, or the third dozen. The payout for this bet is 2-1.
